Coco de Mer
Coco de Mer is a double coconut which is considered the most erotic fruit in the world. The shape is that of a woman's backside and is often offered as a fertility gift at weddings.
Desert of Maine
Believe it or not, there is a desert in Maine. It was left behind by an ice glacier 11,000 years ago. It is a great tourist attraction rich with local history.
Thorny Devil
The Thorny Devil is a fierce looking lizard found in Australia. It isn't harmful to humans but ants better run. This little lizard can eat up to 3000 ants when it's hungry. A unique feature of this lizard is the way it drinks water. Wherever water drops on its body, it will funnel to its mouth for drinking. Weird.
The Lion's Mane Fungus
This is a very strange looking mushroom. It grows in North America and is actually edible.
Axolotls - Smiling Salamander
Axolotls are salamanders that smile. They are only found in Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. It looks like it is smiling at you which makes this little creature so strange. Unfortunately he is now on the endangered species list.
Jabuticaba Tree
The Jabuticaba tree is found in Brazil and as you can see, its fruit grows on the trunk, not the branches. The fruit is grape-like and just a little larger than the average grape. It is sweet and delicious, and it's used to make tarts, jams, wine, and liqueur.
Dragon's Blood Tree
This unique tree is native to some of the Canary Islands. It has a beautiful umbrella shaped canopy. Its name comes from the fact that when the bark or leaves are cut it secretes a reddish substance.
Rafflesia Arnoldii
Rafflesia Arnoldii is the world's largest flower, 3 feet in diameter. What makes this so unique is the fact that it has no leaves, stems or roots. It is a parasite. It attaches itself to a vine and lives off the nutrients of its host. It also smells really bad.
Tarantulas
Tarantulas are pretty common and you may think they are not so strange. However, did you know that if a tarantula falls from a very low height, even a few centimeters it can shatter and die? Tarantulas have a very delicate exoskeleton. By the way, they come in blue too.
